'Magu Nagu'- The Dharwad Chronic Malnutrition Free Project is intended to improve the status of 1500 Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children between the age of 0 to 6 years, identified by Women and Child Development Department & Government of Karnataka. The program is supported by Tata Marcopolo Motors with our interventions that included Nutritional, Medical, Sanitation, Training and periodic follow-ups, 70% of the children have gained weight and are in normal status. A back end KPI system helps managers to monitor the effectiveness and progress of the interventions.
We identify SAM children of the area by gathering the socio-economic data, examining water and sanitation conditions as well as dietary information of the families.
We organize health check-up camps to identify the status of the malnourished children.
All malnourished children are provided with Spirulina, Banana and eeZeet peanut paste
We organize training and workshops on the importance of hygiene and sanitation to mothers, pregnant women, fathers and caretakers of children.
We organise trainings on food practices, breast-feeding, balanced food theory, importance of nutrition and effect of malnutrition on children growth.
With the help of the ZOHO, ODK & KPI apps, we keep observing malnourished children of the area. We collect weight, height and MUAC of the children once in every ten days.
