About Vocational Livelihoods

The Vocational Livelihoods program, in particular, focuses on partnering with industry and institutional partners to train rural underprivileged youth in skills required by various industries. Our goal is to equip these individuals with the necessary skills to secure employment, start their own ventures, or become successful freelancers. We offer training across diverse sectors, including construction, manufacturing, healthcare, media, investment banking, cybersecurity, and ITES.

Becoming a Nature Guide

Becoming a Nature Guide

Deshpande Foundation’s Vocational Livelihoods Program, with trainers from Nature Guides Academy, Bangalore, conducted a 10-day Nature Guide Training Workshop on the JSW Vidyanagar campus, hosted by the JSW Foundation.

Trainees were Government-certified tourist guides of Hampi. The objective was to train them in nature guiding, thus increasing their income opportunities.

The sunrise-to-sunset training was rigorous, with field work in Hampi, Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary, Ankasamudra Bird Conservation Reserve and on the JSW Vidyanagar campus. Classroom sessions covered observation skills, bird and mammal identification, insect and reptile recognition, the geology of the Hampi region, the ethics of nature guiding and more, each session directly relevant for the trainees.

On the 10 th day certificates were handed out to the trainees with attendees including Dr. Anand Bariya, CEO, Deshpande Foundation, Mr. Ralph Sunil, V.P. Admin, JSW, Mr. Peddanna Beedala, CSR Head, JSW Foundation, and dignitaries from the local hospitality industry.

Excavator Operator Training Program

Excavator Operator Training Program

Deshpande Foundation's Vocational Livelihoods Program, in collaboration with Tata-Hitachi, successfully completed three cohorts of the Excavator Operator's Training Program.

The training, held at the Tata-Hitachi Training Center in the Belur Industrial Area, Dharwad, spanned 15 days for each cohort. The comprehensive curriculum combined both theoretical and practical knowledge, equipping participants with the essential skills to operate excavators.
