Natural Farming

About Natural Farming

Our natural farming initiatives currently include biofertilizers and beneficial insects.

We support farmers in producing and marketing vermicompost as a sustainable, income-generating activity that also improves soil health. Our teams provide hands-on guidance on setting up vermicompost units, sourcing earthworms, managing feedstock, and maintaining optimal moisture and temperature conditions to ensure consistent quality. Beyond production, we assist farmers in packaging, pricing, and accessing local markets, helping them sell surplus compost to neighboring farms and nurseries. This approach reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, lowers input costs, and creates an additional, environmentally responsible revenue stream for rural households.

We raise beneficial insects and distribute them to the farming community in readily usable forms. For example, we distribute Trichogramma chilonis and Telenomus remus egg cards which can be easily suspended around a farm or orchard. T. chilonis and T. remus are wasp species that feed on a range of agricultural insect pests. We also provide farmers with usable colonies of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, a beetle that consumes mealy bugs and scale insects.

We train farmers to integrate these biological inputs into their existing crop management practices, reducing indiscriminate chemical spraying. Over time, this promotes healthier agro-ecosystems, preserves pollinator populations, and supports more resilient, low-residue farming systems while maintaining crop yields and quality.
